How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Your laser skin resurfacing treatment will vary based on the intensity of your treatment plan. However, we typically start by applying a topical anesthetic to numb your treatment areas. From there, we will utilize either the Icon, Opus, or Hybrid handheld device to perform your laser skin resurfacing.
You can relax in our treatment chair while the laser handpiece glides over the skin. You may feel the heat from the laser, followed by cold air from the built-in cooling system. This destroys dead and damaged skin cells while stimulating natural collagen production.
Afterward, a healing ointment will be smoothed over your skin and you can return home to recover. Your skin may be red, swollen, and irritated. This should subside in a few days, and the skin peeling process will occur over a 3 – 5-day period. If you are undergoing a deeper resurfacing procedure, your downtime will take longer.
You will begin to notice your skin will naturally flake, crust, and peel off. It’s important to avoid picking at the skin during the recovery process to keep it from scarring. After the peeling is finished, the treated skin will be softer, clearer, rejuvenated, and more youthful-looking.
