What Is Microneedling with PRP?

Dr. Linda Sodoma Aesthetics and Gynecology is proud to offer microneedling, a process that punctures tiny holes into your skin to stimulate skin restoration. As an added benefit, your platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can be administered to the same area to help tissue heal and allow the skin to begin growing new cells. Often performed on the face and neck, microneedling with PRP can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, large pores, and other skin issues. The feel of your skin could be greatly improved to appear smoother and more even in tone without damaging the epidermis. Microneedling is a popular solution since it can help refresh the skin in only a single appointment. With the addition of platelet-rich plasma, your results could be even more enhanced. Many patients at Dr. Linda Sodoma Aesthetics and Gynecology enjoy numerous benefits from microneedling with PRP, such as:

  • PRP improves elastin and collagen generation down within the skin surface for ideal outcomes
  • Reduced recovery time than with microneedling by itself
  • Results last for a minimum of one year
  • Targets numerous concerns at once, including fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture concerns, age spots, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, large pores, and others
  • Usable for virtually all types of skin

How Does Microneedling with PRP Work?

Before microneedling, we will take a sample of your blood for your PRP collection. The blood will then be transferred to our lab, during which the stem cells, platelets, and growth factors will be separated from your blood and made into a PRP serum. Then, we will utilize innovative technology to make tiny micro-injuries into your skin. The small needles won’t damage your skin but instead will help stimulate the creation of collagen. When the microneedling is done, the PRP serum will be set to sink into your skin. After the PRP is absorbed, we will remove the serum and cleanse your skin. After your therapy, you may experience some normal side effects, such as swelling, bruising, and redness. Dr. Sodoma recommends that you avoid the use of makeup, sun exposure, cleansing with exfoliating face washes, or go swimming in the pool for about 72 hours after your treatment. Activities like this can expose your treatment area to harsh chemicals and bacteria that could cause negative reactions. Final results are usually noticed within the first month as the skin works to repair and heal itself.
